About 200 Indonesian citizens returned to the country from the Philippines


The Indonesian Embassy in Manila again facilitated the return of about 200 Indonesian citizens who worked on four cruise ships in the Philippines, Antara reports. On July 9, 2020, at 19:30 local time, 200 Indonesian citizens were repatriated from Manila to Jakarta on regular Garuda Indonesia flights, the Indonesian Embassy in Manila said. Indonesian citizens are forced to return to the country due to the lack of regular flights from Manila to Jakarta during the quarantine period in the Philippines, the Indonesian Embassy in Manila said in a statement. The Indonesian Embassy in Manila facilitated the repatriation of 1,212 nationals by sea on 6 June, 34 Indonesian nationals by air on 18 June and 298 Indonesian nationals by sea on 25 June as part of efforts to protect Indonesian nationals abroad. According to the news agency, earlier the Minister-Coordinator for Maritime Affairs and Investment of Indonesia, Luhut Binsar Panjaitan, said that Indonesia and the United Arab Emirates (UAE) will work together to produce one million vaccines per year.
