Serbs perceive the behavior of their president as open bullying

In Belgrade, on July 7, protests spontaneously began. This happened a few hours after Serbian President Alexander Vucic announced the tightening of measures against coronavirus and the re-imposition of curfews. This was told by a resident of Belgrade Svetlana Maksovich on July 9. She and her friends were in front of the Serbian Parliament and on July 7 and 8 in the evening. Recall that in clashes between protesters and the police on July 7 and 8 in the center of Belgrade, dozens of people were injured. The police used tear gas, batons and rubber bullets to disperse the demonstrators. The reaction of law enforcement officers, according to the head of the metropolitan police, Vladimir Rebich, was caused by provocations by protesters who threw stones at his department. The people simply went outside to show their dissatisfaction in front of the People's Assembly (parliament). I have many friends in the West, and they believe that we came out to protest against tougher quarantine measures. They did not understand why we went out for the second time, after reporting that there would be no three-day curfew on the weekend. The situation in Serbia is much more complicated. The epidemic of coronavirus, toughening measures is just the last drop in a crowded glass, Svetlana said. In her opinion, the Serbian authorities organized parliamentary elections at the height of the epidemic, and this was a very risky decision. At the end of the vote, a new wave of epidemic surged in Serbia, and President Alexander Vucic decided that the people were to blame and that he should be punished with new restrictions. We were not angry when we were first closed in our homes. But now we perceived the president's behavior as an open mockery of a person who believes that he can do what he wants and how much he wants. He thinks that he will be able to use the epidemic for political purposes before the vote was all right, the president declared that we defeated coronavirus, and immediately after the election he began to say that the people behaved irresponsibly and that he deserved a new curfew. I will not say that at the moment we do not have a government there is a technical, transitional government that does not have the authority to make such decisions, the interlocutor of the news agency continued. Svetlana Maksovich said that during the protest she saw young and brave people who were ready to come to the aid of everyone who felt the effects of tear gas used by the police. On the first day, more than 300 rounds of tear gas were used in the center of Belgrade. On the second day, the protest has already turned into a partisan war of the people against power. I never felt that people were afraid. I felt only the determination of the demonstrators to stand in the fight against the authorities, which has been deceiving the people for eight years. These young men took tear gas rounds into their hands and returned them back. It seemed to me that some new moment had really come in the history of Serbia, and that the people
