WHO stopped testing several drugs for SARS-CoV-2
The World Health Organization (WHO) has discontinued trials of hydroxychloroquine (a drug against malaria) and lopinavir/ritonavir (an antiretroviral drug) on diseased COVID-19. This was reported on July 4 on the WHO website. The document indicates that this decision was made in accordance with the recommendation of the international steering committee, the so-called solidarity test, which is aimed at creating a drug for coronavirus infection. It is also indicated that within the framework of these trials, the impact of these drugs on mortality from a new disease was carried out. Preliminary trial results showed that hydroxychloroquine and lopinavir/ritonavir did not cause or practically did not cause a decrease in mortality among hospitalized patients with COVID-19, the report said. Note, as the news agency reported, earlier WHO reported that over the past day, 212326 cases of infection with a new type of coronavirus were detected worldwide, which is a record result.
