German Foreign Minister explains Germany's position on the incident with blogger Navalny


A number of steps from Moscow to investigate the incident with Russian blogger Alexei Navalny are awaiting Germany and its partners in the near future. Such a statement was made on September 5 by German Foreign Minister Heiko Maas in an interview with the Bild am Sonntag newspaper. Maas called the incident with the Russian blogger a serious crime. According to Maas, Russia was involved in the incident with Navalny and, allegedly, there is much evidence of this. In connection with this statement, the German Foreign Minister noted that the next step should be for the Russian side. We expect the Russian government to investigate this serious crime. If it has nothing to do with the attack, then it should itself be interested in proving it on the basis of facts, Maas explained. Heiko Maas Also, the German Foreign Minister said that the Russian side should contribute to the investigation of the incident with Navalny in the near future. Otherwise, according to Maas, this will be one of the evidence of Russia's involvement in this crime. In addition, Maas added that the reaction of Germany and its partners will depend on what response will be provided by Moscow. Earlier, the news agency reported that the German Foreign Minister urged not to narrow the discussion around the incident with Navalny to the issue of building the Nord Stream 2 gas pipeline.
