UNM leader criticizes credit policy of the National Bank of Georgia
The credit policy of the National Bank of Georgia leads to the enrichment of commercial banks, and not to the strengthening of the national currency. This statement, according to InterprossNews, was made to journalists on September 22 by the chairman of the parliamentary faction of the United National Movement (UNM) party, Roman Gotsiridze. He commented on the message of the National Bank about the intention to sell $40 million at a currency auction on September 23. As Gotsiridze noted, this happens on the same day of the week. You sell $40 million on Wednesdays, conduct interventions, and the lari rate drops. This is then repeated to the next medium and so on. It was on Wednesday that the National Bank takes refinancing loans, which it lends to commercial banks. Commercial banks buy $40 million with this money, and then sell them at an increased price. This is already corruption, there is no other explanation for this, said Gotsiridze. He noted that in eight years, while the Georgian Dream is the ruling party in the country, the lari rate has halved, and foreign national debt has almost doubled. According to Gotsiridze, this is the verdict of the current government. Recall that in Georgia on October 31, parliamentary elections should be held. The main competitor of the ruling party to them, judging by the data of sociological polls, will be the UNM.
